I even restarted the program and nothing. There is no blur. I cannot believe this fiasco! So many having the same issue as me and not a peep out of Zoom who has been touting their newest feature which doesn’t work!

I screwed around for half an hour on my Windows 10 bit machine, and all of a sudden, a pop-up, I installed it, and there it was! But I have no idea what I did to invoke it. Thereafter, I have been trying to find this patch, to no avail.. Time to move on to some other software.

I as well am not able to see a blur option on my virtual backgrounds menu on my laptop. I have updated Zoom to version 5. Would greatly appreciate any help which could be provided. Same problem I have downloaded what seems to be the latest version, as no download came with the Pro upgrade. Called support but apparently Pro doesn’t include technical support.

Extremely frustrated You do not need to have a pro account to use “blur background”. I see that no comment here has been accepted as a solution for this, so I thought I would weigh in! If you cannot turn off the green screen option for virtual background, then your computer will not be compatible with the blur background feature.

It is however an excellent starting point, and if your hardware is lower than the minimums listed here you will not be able to use “blur background” or “virtual background without a green screen”. Thanks Micah! I do see now the blur option requires a processor of i5 or above and mine is just i3. I don’t know why I didn’t notice that requirement earlier. Anyway, at least I have the explanation now.

The processor being an i5 is only half the story, just as important is how old the processor is, how many cores the processor has, and what GPU is paired with it. If the blur background feature is missing from Zoom, the most likely reason for it aside from needing a software update is that your computer isn’t new enough or powerful enough for it.

I currently have the same issue. No option to blur my background. And Yes I meet all the requirements to blur my background.

I do not even have an option key to blur it, so this shows me it is an issue on Zoom’s end. Please fix and let me know.

Thank you. Thanks for your feedback. Most calls start with video off. Check the camera you’re using: Just as with audio, Zoom will let you choose which camera to use. Tap the arrow next to the video button and a list of available cameras will pop-up.

Check you’re not using a camera that’s covered or on a closed docked laptop, for example. It’s also here that you’d be able to find virtual cameras, if you wanted to turn yourself into a cat. Confirm the video settings in Zoom: If you’ve tried both the above with no success, open the settings in the Zoom app and examine the “video” options. You’ll be able to see a preview from your webcam and select the webcams available.

If you can’t see a webcam preview, you’ll have to check your computer settings and check your webcam is properly installed. My video is blocky and keeps freezing: Many quality issues in video are because of data.

That might be because you don’t have strong Wi-Fi, or there’s someone else using bandwidth on your connection streaming in 4K or downloading large files, for example. Try to limit other demanding services and ensure you have a good Wi-Fi signal, or a wired connection.

God his is annoying everytime I try to post it comes up with someone else’s question or answer. Got a brand new lappy and my old one is still used. The brand new one has now installed Cortana. What irritates is I have a Windows phone too, and some of the apps recognise this and others don’t.

Anyway Cortana will not respond at all. The only thing I wanted was for the start menu to stay as it was, and the zoom to stop. I’m writing my 3rd book on Microsoft office It has it’s glitches but it’s mine. I don’t want office or whatever I want my Office. The later ones try and control too much. Anyway I’ve searched and searched and no answer for the zoom problem.

I’m running the latest Windows 10 with updates. I’m fed up I like doing things myself I don’t want it all automatic.

SO any fixes to get the zoom which nearly cost me half a book once in my panic I had text highlighted and wiped it out. I remembered to close it and not save and got it back. Control Z didn’t work. But I lost half a chapter I’d written. SO I await the torrent of replies that will come now surely. I’m an analyst and can fix a lot of things however it’s more organic than writing instructions and do a lot. I’ve not got the seven hours spare to spend on it anymore like I used to.

Hello ajaypande I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. If you are on the latest version of Zoom, it is possible that the windows device you are on does not meet the requirements: Image only without a physical green screen Zoom desktop client, version 5.

If that doesn’t solve it, check if there are any software updates for your computer. Zoom says my connection is unstable: Unfortunatly this happens from time to time. This is a local connection problem so the first thing is to check your Wi-Fi connection or wired connection. It’s worth running a speed test – just Google speed test and you’ll get the option to run a quick test where you can see if there really is a speed problem.

If you’re using Wi-Fi, see if you can plug into a wired connection instead, as it’s likely to be more stable than Wi-Fi, or move closer to your router. This is definitely worth doing if you always have a connection problem on Zoom. If it’s a one-off problem, there’s likely nothing you can do about it except wait for the problem to pass – you could try stopping all other activity on your connection to let Zoom have all the bandwidth available.

Check you’re not muted: When you join a Zoom meeting you’ll normally have to click to activate the microphone, because you’re muted. Look for the microphone icon in the bottom left hand corner, if it’s crossed out, click it to unmute your microphone. If you’re on the mobile app, you’ll have to “join with audio” to be able to speak or hear sound. If using an external microphone: Many external mics have they own mute feature – make sure the mic itself isn’t muted.

Check your Bluetooth connection: If you join a call and no one can hear you, check you’re not connected to a Bluetooth headset elsewhere in the house. It might be that an existing connection has claimed your audio. Or, if you want to use a Bluetooth headset, make sure it’s properly connected to the device running Zoom. Check the audio source in Zoom: If you’re in a call and no one can hear you, you can click on the up arrow to expand the audio button in the Zoom app. You’ll then see the options available on your computer so you can use the correct microphone.
